First Things First

Independent Thought. Think about that, just pause and think. Not fair and balanced thought, not former SportsCenter anchors telling you what to think. Your own independent thought. Where does it come from? Do you research your political views, or do you just jump on whichever side the pundit of the day tells you to jump on? Today's Christians have become the butt of many comedic jokes for one reason, not being able to understand the key points they disagree on. In my opinion this stems from our fast paced lives that only leave us enough time to catch a few sound bites from opinionated "news" pundits such as Glenn Beck, Hannity and so on.

Speaking of pundits, I want to take a minute to talk about Fox news. Slow down, before you label me a communist, liberal whatchamacallit, I am just going to discuss my point of view on the leader in Christian news. Now wait a second, Steve, not all Christians watch Fox news! Well, most do, lets be honest. I have many reasons for my disdain with this network but a recent encounter with a fan cemented why I hate them. Someone told me that I hated Fox news because they were the only channel that talked about God and the troops. Well, wait, aren't they fair and balanced? It would seem you can't have it both ways. You can be a God-Loving conservative network or you can be fair and balanced, but not both. To hear that statement addressed towards me, a former Marine and a current Christian made me just a little sad. That a network is that capable of brain washing and turning Americans against one another is exactly why I created this blog.
